Housing Debt - Introduction
Housing debts, more than any other type of debt, require fast action before they get out of control. This is because a place to live is a basic need and the withdrawal of services such as gas and electricity can have an effect on our health and well-being.
All suppliers of services such as gas, electricity and water are governed by industry Codes of Practice which require them to deal with elderly, disabled and the chronically sick in a sympathetic and responsible way. This would mean avoiding disconnections wherever possible.
